Setting the selling mode

Scenario

Your business is currently selling to both consumers and businesses. The selling mode of the application is set to mixed mode. Going forward you are planning to focus on businesses (B2B) only.

You want to understand what impact the change from business-to-business and business-to-customer (B2B & B2C) to B2B has in the application user interface.

Use the following credentials to log in to the exercise system:

Role User name Password
Sales representative nsmith rules
Sales operations SalesSampleOps rules

Your assignment consists of the following tasks:

Task 1: Check current landing pages and create menu options.

Task 2: Change the selling mode to B2B.

Task 3: Verify the change to landing pages and create menu options.

 

You must initiate your own Pega instance to complete this Challenge.

Initialization may take up to 5 minutes so please be patient.

Detailed Tasks

1 Check current landing pages and create menu options

  1. Log in to your exercise system as sales representative.
  2. On the left, from the Explorer panel, click Accounts and verify that the Business, Household and Consumer accounts are available. You can see tabs for each type of account.
  3. From the Explorer panel, click Create > Individual Opportunity and verify that the Create individual opportunity dialog appears.
  4. Click Cancel to close the dialog.
  5. From the Explorer panel, click Create > Individual Lead and verify that the Create Individual lead dialog appears.
  6. Click Cancel to close the dialog.

2 Change the selling mode to B2B

  1. Log in to your exercise environment as sales operations.
  2. From the left navigation panel, click Administration > SA – Toggle Settings.
  3. In the Selling mode field, select the Business-to-business (B2B) from the drop-down and click Save.

3 Verify the change to landing pages and create menu options

  1. Log in to your exercise system as the sales representative.
  2. On the left, from the Explorer panel, click Accounts and verify that the Household and Consumer tabs are no longer available.
  3. From the Explorer panel, click Create > Individual Opportunity and verify that the action is no longer available. All opportunities created are B2B.
  4. From the Explorer panel, click Create > Individual Lead and verify that the action is no longer available. All leads created are B2B.
