Automation development

Automations in Pega Robot Studio

Automations are the backbone of Pega Robot Studio™. Automations turn tedious manual work and repetitive tasks into efficient, standardized routines. Automations simplify a business process by taking any repetitive steps, such as data entry or opening and closing windows, and automating them.

For example, suppose the XYZ Utility Company has a call center program that requires employees to open multiple screens to enter information. In that case, you can use attended automation to streamline that process.

In the following image, click the + icon to see an example of automation that retrieves client information from the complaint screen. The automation sets the values in the legacy customer service application. A standard note is added to the account of the customer, and a button click event submits the call for processing.

Automations in Pega Robot Studio can mimic user interaction. You can combine access to legacy applications with hard-to-access APIs and different actions within multiple applications into one simple routine. When automating a manual process, it is a best practice to watch how users interact with the application and respond. Watching for variations between users with mouse clicks versus keyboard shortcuts aids in the development and structure of your automations for the project and solution.
