Application inheritance

In Pega Platform™, you can configure your Pega Robot Manager™ application so that you can organize your applications and reuse common policies and procedures while allowing for differences between products, regions, channels, and customer segments. Use Pega Robot Manager to help manage deployed robots in your organization by performing the following actions:

  • Manage your users and robots.
  • Assign packages and run-time configuration files.
  • Schedule and prioritize assignments in a designated work queue.

If your organization plans to leverage the robotic automation capability within Pega Platform™, consider extending the functionality of existing Pega Platform cases to address several robotic integration business requirements. Pega Platform supports the reuse capability using an Enterprise Class Structure (ECS) hierarchy, where you can share any rule in an ECS layer across multiple layers.

Through the ECS layer of Pega Platform, Robot Manager allows multiple users in a single instance, serving as a multi-tenant application. For more information about the ECS layers within Pega Platform, see Enterprise Class Structure.

The following image shows an example of a Robot Manager implementation where the administrator enables a claim application onto a Robot Manager application that inherits from Pega Platform. In addition to containing the built-in assets necessary to process cases and other work in Pega applications, the platform layer also retains the assets that Pega Platform uses.
