Best practices of Pega Express

Each Pega Express™ value is supported by a set of Pega Express best practices.  The Pega Express best practices define specific activities that bring the values to life. By incorporating the Pega Express best practices into your projects, you can start to deliver applications in the most optimized, scalable, and repeatable way.

As a Pega Business Architect (BA), the Pega Express best practices create the foundation of your day-to-day work.

In this topic, you examine the relationship between Pega Express values and Pega Express best practices.

Values and best practices

Pega Express comprises twenty unique best practices with each best practice aligned to one or more of the six core Pega Express values. The relationship between values and best practices creates a matrix that defines the Pega Express values and best practices framework.

The following image illustrates the Pega Express values and best practices framework:

The Pega Express values and best practices framework includes Pega best practices, for example Directly Capture Objectives and Microjourneys®, along with industry-standard best practices, such as Scrum and governance, to create a comprehensive set of best practices that covers all aspects of a Pega project's implementation. Several of the best practices, such as Design Thinking, Center-out and Reuse Strategy, are associated with more than one value. It is this combination of best practices across the values that creates the flexibility and scalability of Pega Express. Using this framework, you can extend and optimize industry-standard delivery approaches for all your Pega implementations.

Note: For more information on each of the Pega Express best practices, see Pega Express Values and Best Practices.

Best practice proficiency

Project delivery requires the entire team to work together in close collaboration. This means that all project team members should be familiar with all the Pega Express best practices. Each role, however, has its own area of specialization. System Architects, for example, require a deep knowledge of Pega product features and Diagnostics best practices. Business Architects are expected to be highly proficient in some best practices and less so in others.
