Mixed mode configuration

Mixed mode

Mixed mode occurs when the applications reside on both users' local desktops and in the Citrix environment. Because applications live in two different environments, developers must install Pega Robot Studio on a Citrix box that contains all Citrix-related target applications that are used in the solution. This setup ensures that developers can interrogate all required applications and create and test the solution.

Communication between applications in mixed mode

An example of this type of configuration is a client site where the Human Resources department uses a Citrix onboarding application, and the Finance Department uses a custom Citrix expense report application. Both departments also use the company-wide timesheet application that is installed on each user’s client machine. This configuration requires the sharing of data between the Citrix applications and the local expense reporting application. A developer must install both departmental applications on the Citrix environment to allow for interrogation and automation development. The Citrix environment also requires Pega Robot Runtime™ to be installed as a published application and on the user’s local desktop.

To connect during mixed mode, users launch the local desktop Pega Robot Runtime application first. Once Pega Robot Runtime is launched, it connects to and starts the runtime Citrix server and makes the connection across the boundary.
