The product hierarchy

Overview

Products are the goods or services that you sell to customers. In your application, you can store information about the products you sell. This allows the sales team to view sales activity, determine what products have successfully sold, and determine where opportunities may exist.

Product information is stored in a four-tier product hierarchy:

  • Categories
  • Families
  • Groups
  • Products

For example, the following diagram shows the hierarchical structure of insurance products.

After you create your product hierarchy, you can then link products to opportunities and engagement maps. Quick access to valuable product information helps to make the sales process more efficient.
