Case type components

Case type components are defined as standard case types that have their own life cycle. These case types can be invoked as standalone cases or as child cases from other case types. A standalone case can be associated with other cases by using the association framework available in Pega Government Platform™. When invoked from other cases, the case types display as child case types and are associated with the parent case.

For example, an interview can be conducted standalone but serves no business value. In the context of an investigation, several interviews with suspects, witnesses, and victims are conducted to take the investigation to a logical end. In this context, each interview has its own life cycle but has an outcome that is linked to the investigation. Once a standalone interview is conducted, it can be associated with the investigation case by using the association framework. The investigation case can also spin off interview cases as needed.

Evidence case type

As the name suggests, the Evidence case type allows you to capture details regarding anything that can serve as evidence. Based on the type of evidence, you can capture subject details, location, and attachments related to the evidence. The captured details and attachments are persisted, on validation, into the evidence system of record (SOR). This case type can be used across various business use cases such as investigations, inspections, and license applications.

For example, consider two vehicles that are involved in an accident. The debris from the accident site, the CCTV footage from a nearby traffic camera, and the medical reports of the people involved are all potential pieces of evidence. Each piece of evidence can be recorded as an Evidence case type and is associated with the Event case type (the accident). For any event, more than one piece of evidence collected might be collected, and these items need must be associated with the parent event.

Interview case type

The Interview case type allows you to capture or record details of any interaction between two or more entities. You can capture the participants, interview details, location, and attachments. The details are saved into the interview SOR. The case type can be invoked from Investigations, Complaints, and Grants cases.

Similar to the Evidence case type, you can extend the interview case type by using the case management features. You can also launch the Interview case as a standalone case or in another case.
